> Facebook does not allow users to sign up with certain names that may be fake or associated with fake accounts. While we realize this verification method may prevent some users with legitimate names from registering, we feel this policy is currently the best method to prevent against malicious and fake accounts on the site.

My Reply:
I certainly have no problems with proving that I'm not some evil corporation claiming to be an individual so I can inflitrate people's wallets. But I DO have an issue with sending YOU (evil corporation seems like) who want to see a government issue ID. Do you know how many performers and actors are using Facebook under their performance names out there? Are we all under this type of scrutiny or is it just me?? I have not only been happy using FB as the primary platform to promote live performance art in NYC but also to invite new fans to join the FB community. Not only that, I have spend ALOT of money buying FB ads as well.
I am being treated absolutely unfairly due to this "fake name" issue. If this is something you really uphold, then you should go and delete or disable ALL performers on Facebook who are just trying to make a living being a clown, magician, or etc etc. Why don't you delete Dita Von Tease's profile? That's not her legal name.
Promote yourself for free on my site, burlesqueny.com whenever you perform in NY! It will be my pleasure to help.
ReplyDeletethanks Roger! i'm going to check out your site tonight!
ReplyDeleteDarling, are you sure that some bitter/jealous person didn't "report" you on FB for the fake name? Otherwise, how has this not happened to a lot more of us? Perhaps someone with whom you are no longer FB friends?
ReplyDeleteWell darling, actually his has happened to at least 3 performers that I know of. I think its just luck, or unluck, of the draw on who gets disabled.
ReplyDeleteAnd if it is someone who is bitter/jealous, well, there's nothing I can do about that. I live my life according to my own edicts and I follow my path. If they are not cool with me, then get off my path.
Damn,I was wondering why I had not seen you posting in a while on FB.
ReplyDeleteI think your right in that its the "unluck of the draw" but can also happen from someone reporting. I had one of my photos reported a little while back and it was removed without any ability for me to argue against. FB finds one guilty simply by annonymous accusation.
FB is being utilized by many businesses, performers, artists, etc for networking and I think they better come up with a way to accomodate.
I always enjoyed your postings and the latest updates and hope you can find a way back on.
A concerned fan :)
